Subliminal Sessions Ibiza 2008 - Erick Morillo announces Ibiza summer line-up

Pacha Ibiza No Comments »

Subliminal Sessions head honcho Erick Morillo returns to Pacha Ibiza for his 9th consecutive summer for what promises to be one of his hottest seasons yet!

With an eclectic and fresh stable of guests, we say bring on the summer and let’s get the party started!

Subliminal’s hot new monthly resident for 2008 is Australian electro-houser Dragan AKA Dirty South, whose mixes of The Doors and Snoop have already won him plaudits around the world and we’re proud to welcome him to our Ibiza stomping ground. The Subliminal foot soldiers Harry Coo Choo Romero & Jose Nunez return to Pacha for what promises to be a celebration of house music past, present and future. Making their Subliminal Ibiza debut The Martinez Brothers are almost certainly the hottest new young names on the US house block. The Martinez Brothers rocked Diddy’s main event in Miami and we recommend you come to witness their energy for yourself! We’re also mighty proud that electronic synth star MYLO makes his Subliminal debut this summer. As the man behind the platinum album ‘Destroy Rock N Roll’ and THAT remix of ‘No More Conversations’ (a Morillo smash!), his electro-tech adventures are not to be missed

We’re pleased to welcome back Tom Novy! Tom needs little introduction and we very much consider him part of our family. The ever-energetic DJ/producer from Munich is so much more than ‘Your Body’, the chart smash that made his name. His recent house-work on Kosmo Records suggests that his time is now. The raucous electro-rock duo of Simian Mobile Disco (James Ford & James Shaw) are another act making their debut at Subliminal this year. Their production work with the Arctic Monkeys and The Klaxons needs no introduction. Voted Mixmag’s Breakthrough Artists of 2007, we bring you an SMD DJ set for your ears, minds and feet.

On August 6th, the Swedish House Mafia take control for the night. “What I like about the Swedes,” says Erick Morillo, “is that they’ve brought house music back to the masses.” And with all three – Steve Angello, Seb Ingrosso and Axwell – together for an entire evening of Swedish house maneuvers, prepare for some serious mass entertainment at Pacha.

Returning in 2008 after what has surely been his most successful solo season in years, Dubfire’s reinvention as a serious techno champ has been as successful as it is intriguing. His remixes of everything from ‘Spastik’ to ‘I Found You’ suggests that he’s really found his musical mojo again. Finally, we welcome back Roog (Hardsoul), the Dutch house master from Rotterdam. Hardsoul is a duo made up of brothers Rogier (DJ Roog) and Greg van Bueren.

See you on the dance floor every Wednesday at Pacha Ibiza .

Ibiza Rocks Hotel - HUNGOVER STUNTMEN Resident from 28th May till 14th June

Ibiza Rocks No Comments »

Hungover Stuntmen will be resident at the Ibiza Rocks Hotel from 28th May till 14th June . We can expect some great performances at the hotel this summer…

Hungover Stuntmen, the story:

The band had been gigging for two years when Mark Wallis, legendary producer of U2, Morrisey and Travis, heard the lads’ home recordings and offered to record new demos in his studio.

Tour slots with The Subways and The Kooks followed. Then, remarkably, on hearing the Wallis demo at a party, Paul Weller invited the boys to support him at Newcastle Arena.
Their performance was described in the local press as “triumphant… they had the crowd rocking… performing in front of thousands as if they did it every night”.

The national papers also sat up and took notice, The Sun announcing Hungover Stuntmen “a brilliant new band”, the Sunday Mirror declared “watch out for these boys” adding that both Weller and Roger Daltrey were describing them as “fantastic”.
Zane Lowe chipped in on Radio One after seeing one of the Subways’ shows, describing Hungover Stuntmen as “awesome”. Phill Jupitus on BBC SixMusic adding that they were “really a very good turn”
So impressed was Steve Cradock, guitarist in Paul Weller’s band and Ocean Colour Scene, that he too offered to record the lads in the studio, also joining them on stage at a gig in Newcastle
On hearing Steve Cradock’s recordings Andy Taylor, guitarist with Duran Duran and Power Station, offered to record the lads in his studio, too. He also took to the stage with them at an acoustic gig in Ibiza.

In August of 2006 BBC 6Music’s Clare McDonnell took to playing tracks from the band’s demos on the station’s Dream Ticket show, exclaiming “Everybody’s absolutely raving about them, and rightly so!”

In September 2006 Hungover Stuntmen played a storming show at 3BandStand for Teenage Cancer Trust alongside The Futureheads, Jools Holland & Paul Weller.
An acoustic support for Get Cape Wear Cape Fly followed and shortly afterwards two more gigs with Paul Weller, before going into 4 months of intensive rehearsal before the Ibiza recording sessions.
