Lawler had previously rocked the terrace week in week out since its inception a decade ago, he left in 2006 after 7 years and returns in time to join the 10 year celebrations.
We Love… head honcho Darren Hughes comments.
“Having Steve back in the fold last year for the two shows he did with Miss Kittin was a musical highlight for us, one that we felt best showcased what we are trying to do at Space on Sundays a true juxtaposition of musical journeys. We are pleased he has returned to his true home here with us at We Love…Space”
Steve adds
“On a personal level, the team are very close to me, I have a lot of love and respect for them, and to be back with them means a lot. On a professional level, over the last couple of years I have done some different things on the island, after being resident for 7 years in the same club, I felt I needed a change, but after playing We Love… again last year for 2 shows, made me feel it was time to go back, and how much it meant to me being amongst friends”
“The Space terrace… always brings out the best in me when I’m performing, it’s a special gig.”
Steve has 8 shows in total at Space this year, the opening and closing of Space, and 6 Dates for We Love…
Space has been through some huge changes over the last 3 years, The Terrace being the biggest change. The Space Terrace Room is by far one of the best rooms in the world, it now has the sound it always deserved and combined with the return of one of the original residents this summer promises to be as explosive as ever.
Steve is working on some special re-edits for his Space sets and of course looking forward to taking full advantage of the Ibizan ethos “the gigs, spending time with friends and surrounded by good music – it’s what Ibiza is all about…”

“2008 is our tenth year at Space and, we feel, our most inspired to date. With 10 years experience of shaping our now festival sized party, the six ‘arenas’ are finely honed and bring together a huge array of artists from around the globe. We will be announcing the full summer line up shortly but today are showcasing our impressive and ever evolving list of resident DJs. The return of old favourite Steve Lawler - back on board for six terrace shows, Steve began playing on the hallowed Space terrace back in 1998, at the very conception, so it’s very special for him to come back. Regular resident Jeff Mills will be headlining three exclusive shows in the Discoteca, showcasing full 909 Dex & FX sets and a very special one-off B2B set that will be announced next month. Mash up main man Felix Da Housecat is back again for four exclusive shows - watch this space for madness, mayhem and tequila antics! James Zabiela, long time We Lover, is back this year for six dates. The Ed Bangers (Busy P & Medhi) played for the first time ever last year and were phenomenal - it worked so well that this year they are on the resident list for four monthly shows. Island Favorite Smokin’ Jo brings some glamour to the proceedings with eight terrace shows. Balearic legend Alfredo and the hip therapist himself Paul Woolford are both playing 16 dates and will be mixing the second We Love.. compilation, due for release in June. And last but not least Chew the Fat are back in the Red Box featuring regulars Paul Trouble Arnold and Jem Haynes plus guests.”

“I first went to Space in 1990 and first played for We Love (in the guise of ‘Home at Space’) 10 years ago. When I first played on the Terrace the DJ booth was behind the bar! I remember Darren Hughes telling me “we will have a proper DJ booth in here” - we both shared that vision. Over the years there have been some huge changes to the club - the terrace being the biggest change. Space did loose its Terrace, but as one era ended a new one begun. Now the Terrace is by far one of the best rooms in a club in the world - with an amazing sound system. The main thing about We Love that I feel is the most important is the love and attention that goes into these parties; the enthusiasm and passion from everyone involved - it makes the parties now as good, if not better, than what they were 10 years ago.” - Steve Lawler
